Second ghost section

In 2003, 106 Wheturangi Rd sold for over $1 million with 21 years left on the lease. The house was a modern design, plaster-clad, swimming pool on a large section backing onto the the Park. Fast forward to last year when the lessees abandonaed it because they couldn’t afford the huge rent increase. In comes Cornwall Park Trust Board and demolishes it. The land sits vacant just like the ghost section in Maungakiekie Ave, empty for 16 years. If a fair rent had been offerred someone might have takne the risk of building a home as many did around that time, or in 106 example, recladding it and making it liveable. In a housing crisis it seems wrong that two sections are sitting empty and unused. One of the Trustees used to sit on Kainga Ora (Housing NZ) and one still does.
